Web Exclusive: People in the news – as reported July 1, 2010

Michael Kasper, M.D., of the Lynn Cancer Institute of Boca Raton Community Hospital in Boca Raton, Fla., was mentioned in a June 22, 2010, Palm Beach (Fla.) Post article on a 14-year metastatic melanoma survivor.  Dr. Kasper spoke on the use of brachytherapy for skin cancers.

In a June 27, 2010, Beaufort (S.C.) Gazette article on the Keyserling Cancer Center in Port Royal, S.C.’s, Cancer Survivors Day Celebration, James McNab, M.D., of the Keyserling Cancer Center, was quoted as saying, “Survivors are considered those living with a history of cancer—from the moment of diagnosis throughout the remainder of life.”

Stephen Smalley, M.D., a radiation oncologist at Olathe Medical Center (OMC) and chairman of OMC’s Cancer Committee, was quoted in a June 24, 2010, Gardner (Kan.) Edge story on OMC receiving a three-year accreditation with commendation to the cancer program from the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons.

Joshua Halpern, M.D., of The Brooklyn Hospital Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., was mentioned in a June 19, 2010, New York Daily News article on the importance of PSA tests. The author of the article was treated by Dr. Halpern.
