Tom Buchholz, M.D., of M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston was asked by professional golfer Phil Mickelson to be his caddie for three holes during the Houston Open. Dr. Buchholz has been treating Michelson’s wife Amy and his mother Mary, who were both diagnosed with breast cancer last year. According to an April 4, 2010, Detroit Free Press article, Andre Konski, M.D., of Wayne State University in Detroit was named head of the Late Effects and Survivors Working Group of the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group.
Theodore DeWeese, M.D., of Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center in Baltimore was quoted in an April 18, 2010, MSNBC article on a meeting held by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to find out how confident outside experts are that various types of radiation treatments can improve patient outcomes.
ASTRO Chairman Tim Williams, M.D., of Boca Raton Community Hospital in Boca Raton, Fla., wrote an April 20, 2010, column for The Huffington Post on ASTRO’s Target Safely plan.
The Cleveland News Sun quoted Mehran Saboori, M.D., a radiation oncologist at the Ireland Cancer Center in Middleburg Heights, Ohio, in an April 25, 2010, story about the center’s grand re-opening after extensive renovations. The cancer center added 1,500 square feet of space, including three exam rooms and a holding room for transferred patients.
